Certification Standard for the Management of Online Reviews
FameCert is the independent certification standard developed by Fametrue for the correct collection and management of online reviews.
It does not certify the quality of a brand's product or service. It certifies that the process by which a brand collects and manages its customers' public feedback complies with current regulation and with the principles of authenticity and representativeness.
A FameCert certified brand has demonstrated, through an independent audit, that it does not condition the representativeness of its online reviews, neither by excluding dissatisfied customers from invitations, nor by incentivising positive ratings, nor by removing or deliberately ignoring negative ones.
Certification does not concern the level of the score. A certified brand may have a low average rating and be fully compliant, because what is verified is the way that rating was formed.
Online reviews influence the purchasing decisions of millions of consumers every day. Manipulating them is an unfair commercial practice under UK law, with significant legal consequences for the companies that adopt it.
FameCert exists to give companies a proactive compliance tool, and consumers a verifiable guarantee of authenticity.
AI engines are becoming the first point of contact for purchasing decisions. As they improve at assessing the reliability of sources, they will reward brands able to demonstrate the integrity of their collection process. Independent certification is not only regulatory compliance, it is a signal of reliability that the AI ecosystem will learn to recognise.
The collection process is compliant and not influenced by selection or incentivisation mechanisms, and it covers in full the points of contact that matter in the sector the brand operates in.
Reviews represent the real experience of customers, including critical ratings, which receive no different treatment from the others, and information about the process remains accessible to the consumer.
The process is documented and reconstructable over time, the profile stays monitored for the whole period of validity, and certification is subject to periodic verification and to a suspension clause.
The three areas apply to everyone. What changes from one market to another are the moments of the relationship the collection has to cover, because an insurance claim, the end of a supply contract and a product return do not carry the same weight at the same point of the journey.
Operational detail, thresholds, benchmarks and verification methods, is defined in the certification agreement and in the technical documents reserved for brands that begin the journey.
The overall duration depends on the brand's starting situation and on how quickly it adapts.
The FameCert certificate is valid for 12 months. Renewal takes place through an annual audit. For the whole period of validity, the Fametrue platform carries out continuous monitoring of the brand's reputational profile. This is what sets FameCert apart from any certification based on periodic audits alone.
The brand does not renew the annual audit within twelve months.
The coverage that allows Fametrue to attest compliance over time is no longer in place.
The platform detects a departure from the criteria and an internal procedure is opened, with possible suspension or revocation even where the audit was regular.
The first step is an analysis of your brand's reputational profile, provided by Fametrue as part of the onboarding process.
